Suicide Awareness Walk Ballarat
The Ballarat and District Suicide Prevention Network is proud to host the annual Out Of The Shadows suicide awareness walk. This event coincides with National Suicide Day in September.
The Out Of The Shadows suicide walk was first held in 2011 to coincide with the establishment of the Ballarat and District Suicide Prevention network.
The walk is Ballarat’s contribution to National Suicide Day. It gives members of our community the chance to join people from all across Australia in remembering those who have lost their lives to suicide and those left behind who are bereaved.
The most recent Out Of The Shadows suicide prevention walk attracted over 200 participants who walked together around Lake Wendouree and watched the symbolic dawn of a new day. This was our largest walk ever, with almost double the number of people who participated in last year’s walk.
Please show your support for suicide prevention and remember those lost to suicide by joining us on next year’s annual walk. It will be held on Saturday 13th of September 2014 at 5.20am. The walk will take place at Lake Wendouree and we’ll be meeting at the rotunda near Pipers.
By taking part you will be making a difference to people’s lives by raising awareness of suicide prevention.
